You can't take anything with you...

I've spent the past few weeks trying to find stuff I can get rid of...specifically musical stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my musical equipment, no matter what quality. I think the realization is setting in that I am now only a musical hobbyist, and I just have tons of expensive "stuff" crowding my house. That and I could use some money to pay off my van and pay back student loans. With each ebay listing I feel a twinge of sadness as I part with a piece of equipment which has not only been a musical tool, but a part of my songwriting, performance, recording, and overall maturing over the past 10-15 years. My feeling of sadness is mainly overcome by the fact that many of these things have sat in a closet without being looked at for the past few years.

On another note, I found this beer at Publix the other night when looking for things to make and drink for a fancy dinner.
Usually my unique beer finds happen at Total Wine, but I must say that I rather enjoy this beer for it's light and crisp ale flavor. I've always been a fan of Belgian Ales. I was surprised to find that it didn't get very good reviews at Beer Advocate. I usually try to drink a beer before looking at other people's opinions. What happens usually if I like one that doesn't get good reviews is that it starts to taste too sweet to me after a while...maybe that is what will happen with this one. For now I think it's a winner.

The joys of nursing...

This weekend I had to deal with a continuous bladder irrigation (also known as a CBI). I don't know if this is a common thing on renal floors, but if it is that is just one more reason to never work on a renal floor. Imagine having 5-7 patients, but one of your patients requires you to be in their room every 20-30 minutes to empty foley bags and hang new irrigation bags. It becomes rather time consuming, as if you weren't already stretched for time as a nurse.

Tonight I made some pretty fantastic food. I hadn't made fried chicken (in the deep fryer) or mashed potatoes in a while, and I had almost forgotten how wonderful they are. Afterwards Addy and I played in the backyard for a little while. I had a moment of sheer adrenaline when Oliver (who was romping in the grass) squeezed through the fence. I chased him around to the front door and then called Kristi to open the door for him while I kept him from running anywhere else. He used to be allowed in the backyard whenever he wanted, but then one time he left and didn't come back until the next morning. Ever since then he is only been in the backyard with supervision. He is probably going to be banned from the backyard after tonight's incident. I just can't bear the thought of losing a pet.

Another Semester Down

Today I had my last bit of school work for the semester. I had to take my final for pathophysiology, and while normally Greenville Tech proctors these tests for me, they refused to do so anytime this week because their testing center was too busy. So, feeling very grumpy about the whole thing I arranged to take it at Piedmont Tech instead. Since I've never been to Greenwood I decided to make a day out of it. I took the test, drove out to Self Regional  to see what it looked like, and then drove to Lake Greenwood State Park and did some running out there. The lake is just OK as far as lakes go. Probably better than Hartwell, but not as nice as Keowee. Kristi and I sometimes talk about whether we might want to move to a lake or beach eventually, so I thought about the trip as if I was scouting out the location. None of my pictures turned out that great, so I just messed around with some weird editing ideas.

On the way back I stopped in Laurens and ate at what apparently is a historic old theatre in the town square. I was mainly attracted to the 3.99 lunch specials.

I decided to relax for the rest of the afternoon since I have done quite a bit of school work this week. I spent time trying to locate all my old recordings of songs I have written so I could move them into one folder. I'm thinking about moving my songs from Soundclick to Soundcloud. Soundclick has been good to me, but it's just a terrible looking site. Some of my old stuff is pretty funny to listen to...I have a folder of songs I will post and another with songs I am too embarrased to post.

Tonight we had a commmunity group cookout at the Brush's house. It's always good to get together with friends.

Addy loves pigtails

Kristi put Addy in pigtails for the first time today. Addy was pretty excited.
